Business environment in Finland
Broadcasting is transferring globally from analogue to digital in order to increase transmission capacity and reduce transmission costs. Significant growth in both Digital Terrestrial (DTT) free-to-air and pay-TV is expected up to 2012, by which time Europe will be entirely digitalized.
Finland was the first country in Europe to implement a complete switch-over from analogue terrestrial network to digital TV broadcasting, which took place in September 2007. Digitalization led to an increase in the number of pay-TV channels in the market.
