In November 2006, PlusTV started providing entertainment for TV viewers in Finnish terrestrial households. In the past two years, the PlusTV service has become the most popular pay-TV package in terrestrial households in Finland. By the end of the year 2008 PlusTV had 281,000 pay-TV subscribers.
PlusTV believes in a significant pay-TV market potential in Finland. It is estimated that pay-TV penetration will reach 50% in Finland during the next 3 - 4 years. PlusTV’s primary target market is the current 1,100,000 terrestrial households. Besides the digital terrestrial business, IPTV and Mobile TV services create new market opportunities for PlusTV in the future.
PlusTV has the most attractive content package in Finland. PlusTV is engaged in exclusive cooperation with MTV MEDIA, the leading television company in Finland. MTV MEDIA’s pay-TV channels are available for terrestrial households only in the PlusTV channel package. MTV MEDIA owns the rights to broadcast Formula 1 races, which attract wide interest in Finland. Live Formula 1 races can be seen in terrestrial households on MTV3 MAX through the PlusTV package.
